Bécassine is a French comic strip created by writer Jacqueline Rivière and illustrator Joseph Porphyre Pinchon. Its first appearance was on February 2, 1905, in the inaugural issue of the magazine La Semaine de Suzette, published by Gautier-Languereau.

The series follows the adventures of a young servant girl from Brittany. Across dozens of albums, Bécassine travels the world and adapts to the technological advancements of the early 20th century, taking on a variety of jobs with boundless curiosity.

Bécassine, whose real name is Annaïck Labornez, is a naive yet devoted and courageous heroine. She is recognizable by her traditional green costume and the absence of a drawn mouth, symbolizing her status as a servant while maintaining an optimistic and persevering character.
