Tom Sawyer is a famous Japanese animated series produced by Nippon Animation in 1980. Directed by Hiroshi Saito, it adapts Mark Twain's literary masterpiece and was broadcast in France starting in 1982 on the children's program Récré A2.

The story takes place in 19th-century Saint Petersburg, on the banks of the Mississippi River. It follows the adventures of Tom, a mischievous and free-spirited young boy, who gets into all sorts of trouble and mischief with his friends.

Huckleberry Finn, nicknamed Huck, is Tom's best friend. An orphan and vagabond living in a barrel, he embodies absolute independence. Loyal, courageous, and superstitious, he accompanies Tom on his most daring expeditions, fleeing the constraints of civilized society.
