Hulk is an icon of Marvel culture, created in the United States by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. The character made his first appearance in May 1962 in the comic book The Incredible Hulk #1, published by Marvel Comics.

The story follows the misadventures of physicist Bruce Banner who, after being accidentally exposed to gamma rays during an experimental explosion, transforms into a colossus with superhuman strength whenever he is subjected to stress or anger.

Hulk is the embodiment of Banner's repressed rage. This green giant, a founding member of the Avengers, is a solitary and tormented being possessing almost limitless physical power, while retaining a childlike innocence in his desire to be left alone.
