Beauty and the Beast is a Disney animated masterpiece, directed by Gary Trousdale and Kirk Wise in the United States in 1991. Inspired by the fairy tale by Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont, the film made cinematic history by being the first animated feature film nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture.
