The Black Hole is an American science fiction film directed by Gary Nelson and produced by Disney Studios, released in 1979. Conceived as a response to the Star Wars phenomenon, it is loosely based on Jules Verne's novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, transposing an epic and dark adventure into space.

The plot follows the crew of the spaceship Palomino as they discover the USS Cygnus, a vanished space station mysteriously anchored near a black hole. There, they encounter Dr. Reinhardt, a visionary and tyrannical scientist willing to do anything to cross this gravitational abyss, whatever the cost to his crew, who are transformed into drones.

Maximilian is Reinhardt's enforcer, an imposing and terrifying red robot devoid of a human face. A true bodyguard and enforcer of dirty work, he embodies pure technological menace through his brute strength and complete lack of compassion. His iconic design and ruthless nature made him one of the most memorable villains in science fiction of that era.
