Captain Planet is an American animated environmental series created by Ted Turner and Barbara Pyle. First broadcast in 1990 on TBS, it was produced by DIC Enterprises and Hanna-Barbera to raise awareness among young people about global environmental issues.

The story follows five teenagers, the Planetarians, from different continents. Given magical rings by Gaia, the spirit of the Earth, they fight against polluters. When they combine their powers, they summon Captain Planet to solve major ecological crises.

Captain Planet is an elemental superhero whose strength depends on the health of the Earth. Courageous and witty, he has blue skin and green hair. A tireless protector of the environment, he symbolizes the power of collective action to save nature.
