Ulysses 31 is a French-Japanese animated series created by Jean Chalopin and Nina Wolmark, produced by DIC and Tokyo Movie Shinsha studios. It was first broadcast in France on October 3, 1981, on the FR3 channel.
The plot transposes Homer's Odyssey to the 31st century. After saving his son from the Cyclops, Ulysses suffers the wrath of the Olympian gods, who freeze his crew and condemn them to wander in an unknown universe aboard the spaceship Odysseus.
Ulysses is the ship's captain and the coordinator of solar peace. A noble, courageous, and deeply humane character, he uses his wisdom and technology to protect his people and find his way back to Earth.
